TARGET POPULATION

For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 70 senior executives working in the wind power industry across the US and Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain). This is the fourth iteration in this tracker series.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents discussed the operations and purchasing plans for the next years.
  • The survey also covered the competitive landscape of the key OEMs in the market along with the respondents’ projections on the future outlook of the industry.
  • Lastly, the research provided insights into the respondents’ satisfaction with the component warranties they receive from the OEMs.

Example of findings:

  • 40% of experts indicated that their firm is unlikely to delay the purchase of wind turbines currently due to the war in Ukraine.
  • Over half of the experts (57%) rated Siemens-Gamesa as the top manufacturer in terms of satisfaction.
  • 31% of respondents agreed that the length of Wind Turbine Warranties is 6-10 years compared to only 14% in the previous wave (March 2023).

DELIVERABLES

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Randall Tinkerman, former Consulting Due Diligence, Offshore Wind Tender Evaluator at the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate in the Netherlands.

The standard deliverable includes:

  • 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
  • 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
  • Executive summary with key takeaways and highlights from the raw data.

  • From which of the following wind turbine OEMs are you likely to purchase in the future?
  • Which of the following OEMs is the preferred one by your firm?
  • Has your firm delayed purchases of wind turbines as a result of the Russian war in Ukraine in the last 12-24 months?
  • What impact had the cost increases for wind turbines and raw materials affected your business sector?
  • Has your firm increased its selling energy cost within the past 12-18 months?
  • In your view, are customers coping well with the increased costs?
  • From your perspective, how likely are businesses in your sector to adapt their wind turbines or wind projects for the production of hydrogen or other P2X fuels in the next 3 years?
