TARGET POPULATION
GLG surveyed 80 senior executives working within the automotive industry. This is the second iteration in this tracker series.
What will you learn from this survey?
- Respondents commented on the electric vehicles sales growth in the next 2 years and retention of profit for different types of EVs.
- Furthermore, the survey also looked into possible challenger and disruptor brands in the space.
- Lastly, the research captured the purchasing factors for new EV buyers.
Example of findings:
- In November 2023, 83% of the experts mentioned that BEVs are likely to expect an increase in volume availability followed by PHEVs at 68% in the next 2 years.
- Over half of the experts remain confident that EV prices will come down in the next 5 years, with BEVs as the most likely candidate.
- 43% of respondents indicated that the BEV prices will be aligning to ICE prices for similar models in the next 2 years.
DELIVERABLES
The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Carl Sanderson, former General Manager at BMW (UK) Limited.
The standard deliverable includes:
- 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
- 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
- Executive summary with key takeaways and highlights from the raw data.

- Thinking of the aftersales profit (Service, Maintenance & Warranty work) from your EV customer base vs. your ICE customer base, how has this trended in the last 12 months?
- Considering your current operating facilities, do you expect to increase or reduce your dealership footprint within the next 5-10 years?
- How many different EV brands do you represent on your sales site?
- Other than price, please rank the top 5 most influential factors for new EV buyers.
- Have you experience a change in the use of finance solutions among EV buyers in the last 3 years?
- In your view, how likely is a reduction in EV price points over the coming five-years (as a result of technology wins, increased competition, availability etc.)?
- In general, how do your customers perceive the higher price point of an EV vs. an ICE?
- When do you envisage the legal or forced market switch-over from ICE to EV in the following markets?
