TARGET POPULATION
For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 70 cruise travel agents across Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain) who commented on the latest market trends. This is the second iteration in this tracker series.
What will you learn from this survey?
- Respondents commented on projections of passenger volumes for the coming years and how these have changed over time.
- The survey explored current customer concerns and how they will change the types of cruises that are in demand.
- Lastly, the research gathered the experts’ views on the current impact of COVID-19 and booking trends for the year 2024.
Example of findings:
- In January 2024, 90% respondents stated that there is a ‘slight’ or ‘significant’ increase in the level of bookings compared to pre-COVID-19.
- Over half of the experts (51%) agreed the average customer spend per holiday is more than $1000 compared to only 4% in the previous wave (November 2022).
- 77% respondents agreed that CSR activities are being offered to customers as a measure to reduce the carbon footprint they are creating with their choice of holiday.
DELIVERABLES
The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, David Noyes, former CEO of Carnival UK.
The standard deliverable includes:
- 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
- 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
- Executive summary with key takeaways and highlights from the raw data.

- Compared with 2023, please estimate the level of sales enquiries for 2024 cruise holidays?
- How does this level of bookings compare with cruise booking levels pre-COVID-19?
- Please indicate which type of cruises are currently attracting most interest?
- What were the main reasons why these regular cruisers chose these alternative holidays?
- Please specify what measures are offered to customers to offset their carbon footprint.
- What percentage of customers take into account the environmental impact of their holiday options?
- Concerning the amount customers are considering spending on their whole holiday, what would be the average amount?
- Please estimate the average number of people per booking.
