TARGET POPULATION
For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 60 senior executives within the container shipping industry across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This is the fourth iteration in this tracker series.
What will you learn from this survey?
- The survey captured a global overview of the industry, with regional perspectives.
- Respondents discussed the operational challenges that are currently being faced within the industry.
- Furthermore, the research covered topics such as freight rates, slow steaming and environmental concerns.
Examples of findings:
- In March 2024, nearly half of the respondents (48%) have seen an increase in demand for container shipping globally in the last year dropping from 87% in April 2023.
- Nearly one-quarter expect Europe and Southeast Asia to have the greatest increase in container terminals throughout this year.
- 55% respondents expect competition to increase with the new alliance of AP Moller-Maersk and MSC with Hapag Lloyd.

- AP Moller Maersk, MSC and CMA-CGM have all begun air cargo operations. Do you expect further air freight provision from liner companies?
- Do you expect slow steaming to resume if and when the security situation improves?
