TARGET POPULATION
For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 75 senior executives across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and US. This is the fourth iteration in this tracker series.
What will you learn from this survey?
- Respondents discussed the current force driving their organization’s decision to produce biofuels.
- Furthermore, the survey also looked into the likelihood of changes expected in the industry over the next 5 years due to climate change.
- Lastly, the research gathered insights on current technologies being used and producers’ outlook on the industry over the next years.
Example of findings:
- In January 2024, over three-in-ten respondents stated that they are currently using used cooking oil as the most used feedstock in the industry.
- 44% experts remain confident that carbon compliance cost will be much more than today in the next 5 years.
- 60% respondents expect to have Low Carbon Fuel Standard policy in 1 to 3 states over the next 5 years.
DELIVERABLES
The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, David Elsenbast, former Vice President – International Feedstock Development at Renewable Energy Group, Inc.
The standard deliverable includes:
- 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
- 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
- Executive summary with key takeaways and highlights from the raw data.

- In the next 5 years, how do you expect carbon compliance costs to be relative to today?
- Which feedstocks does your company use/plan to use as its primary feedstocks to produce renewable diesel/sustainable aviation fuel?
- Compared with 2022, please estimate the change in domestic feedstock supplies in 2023.
- How likely will there be enough feedstocks to cover the future demand growth for renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel?
- What is the outlook for margins in renewable diesel production?
