SURVEY DETAILS
TARGET POPULATION
GLG interviewed 70 senior executives with knowledge of the automotive semiconductor market within the US and Europe (United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy).
What will you learn from this survey?
- Experts provided an overview of the current situation for automotive semiconductors space in the US, including key drivers for adoption.
- This survey covered market trends in chip demand and the constraints causing bottlenecks for chip output.
- Lastly, the research also investigated how various parts of automotive production are impacted and gathered experts’ views on the outlook for 2024.
Example of findings:
- Sensors (33%) is perceived to have been most impacted by supply shortages, followed by MCU (29%).
- The shortage in semiconductors has impacted Electric Vehicle production more than ICE vehicle production.
- Demand for chips within the automotive industry is being driven most strongly by the logic (non-memory) and memory markets, both of which are seen as drivers by around half of experts.
DELIVERABLES
The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Dr. David Smith, Technical Assessment Consultant, and former Vice President at Lam Research Corporation.
The standard deliverable includes:
- 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
- 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
- In-depth PowerPoint report of survey findings presented by the Council Member via webcast (optional).
SAMPLE QUESTIONS
- At a total global level, how do you expect automotive semiconductor capacity to change in the first half of 2023 compared to the second half of 2023?
- What is the likelihood of there being an overcapacity situation for automotive semiconductors within the industry by the end of 2024?
- When do you expect the supply shortage for automotive semiconductors to be resolved for the majority of auto manufacturers?
- How has the demand for electric vehicles change the semiconductor supply?
- Which of the following semiconductor suppliers do you believe benefits the most from the increased demand for EV/electrification chips?
- What is the likelihood of there being an overcapacity situation for automotive semiconductors within the industry by the end of 2024?
- What is your expectation for the demand of Si at an industry level in 2024 compared to 2023?
