GLG Network Survey — China Reopening: Hospital Demand and Capacity Forecast

SURVEY DETAILS

GLG will survey 80 chief or deputy chief physicians from oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and dialysis departments in Chinese 3A hospitals in Tier 1 cities to collect their views on the patient demand trend and hospital capacity in China.

What will you learn from this survey?

• Respondents will share their observation of current patient demand in hospitals (in terms of daily patient numbers, outpatient rates, hospital bed utilization rates, and number of surgeries performed) and compare it with that of the pre-COVID period.
• Respondents will also provide an overview of current hospital capacity and explain whether it aligns with the evolving patient demand trend.
• Based on their experience and observation, respondents will also share their personal forecast of the next 6-12 months in terms of patient demand trends and explain the possibility of patient demand returning to or exceeding pre-COVID levels.
• This survey will also collect views from respondents on future hospital demand and spending trends for drugs, medical devices, and medical equipment.
• Lastly, respondents will be asked to provide views on public concern around the next wave of COVID and how that will impact hospital operations and surgery schedules.

DELIVERABLES

The GLG Surveys team will draft the questionnaire with the support of a GLG Network Member who is the deputy head of hospital operation at a 3A hospital.

• 1 x individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
• 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
