GLG Diversity Statement
-
December 2023
At GLG, we are driven by our purpose: we bring the power of insight to every great professional decision. Because our business is built on the power of first-hand expertise and diversity of perspectives, a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is at the heart of what we do and who we are. This focus is reflected in our official policies and in our GLG values, which combine high performance with compassion, and which guide how we treat our clients, experts, teammates, and communities.
Our commitment: Like many other companies, GLG regularly reviews our record on DE&I, including where we’ve made progress and how much farther we have to go. In 2020, we doubled down on our existing initiatives and held ourselves accountable to a rigorous action plan. Among other things, this has included: endeavoring to field diverse slates of candidates for open roles; training and education leveraging GLG’s unique expert population; and a commitment to our global Diversity Networks, which foster a diverse workplace through recruiting and outreach efforts, development and mentoring opportunities, as well as providing a safe space for GLGers to share experiences and support one another. Through our Social Impact work, we have also increased our donations and pro bono support for racial justice organizations.
No tolerance policy on discrimination: GLG has long had a no-tolerance policy for harassment and discrimination, including a prohibition on retaliation. We conduct annual mandatory trainings for all employees, and we communicate broadly to make sure employees know how to report any concerns (including employee access to an anonymous whistleblower hotline). We all benefit from a work environment that fosters integrity and respect.
We are an equal opportunity employer: Employment at GLG is based solely on a person’s merit and qualifications directly related to professional competence. GLG does not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition, or any other basis protected by law.
Suppliers and vendors: GLG recognizes that increasing supplier diversity creates a competitive advantage for the company and has a positive impact on the global community. Therefore, GLG tracks suppliers across various demographics, including: Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE), Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE), LGBT-Certified Business (LGBTBE), Veteran-Owned Business, Physically Challenged Business, and Disabled Business Enterprise.
Our experts: We are also committed to growing the number of diverse experts in our network of experts, despite the regrettable fact that there are certain fields of expertise in which minority groups have historically been underrepresented. This is a systemic challenge which we believe all sectors should address. When we select experts for a project, we do so based on their answers to detailed questions about their experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as information collected through prior interactions with GLG, but without regard for an experts’ race, gender, or other characteristics. This reflects our belief that precise matches to the best experts should be based on what our clients are asking and what our experts report that they know and can share, and not on any other characteristic.
Our promise: Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion has only deepened in this period when so many are coming together to press for solutions to longstanding inequities. We believe that our differences make us smarter. Driven by our purpose and our GLG values, we are building a company where every employee has the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to working with our clients, experts, and suppliers to continue to drive progress on these issues.
