Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) is seeking a Greater China-based Manager, Business Development to support the growth of new clients, and to develop and maintain existing relationships. The professional will have direct responsibility for GLG clients in Hong Kong and mainland China, developing deeper relationships and increasing research product coverage at existing clients, and for expanding GLG’s client base through new client relationships.
Senior Business Development Manager’s main responsibilities include the following:
- Manage and grow a book of existing clients; drive commercial results by providing sophisticated research solutions through expert phone consultations, private meetings, surveys, and other in-depth research solutions.
- Establish solution-based thought partnership with clients. Plan and hold client optimizations, formal meetings and socials with clients and prospects.
- New business development: identify, qualify, and onboard new clients in Hong Kong and mainland China.
- Manage commercials of the book including contracting, revenue and margin management, and resolving legal & compliance issues
- Work creatively and collaboratively with internal colleagues across sales, marketing, legal, client solutions, research, finance, technology—to deliver solutions to solve complex business issues
- Enhance GLG brand and build entrenched relationships in the financial service industry in Greater China through organized marketing activities and hosting GLG exclusive Events in Greater China
Ideal applicants should have the following attributes:
- 5+ years of experience in business development or account management functions.
- Demonstrated track record of growing institutional client base, winning new business, and managing performance to budget.
- Experience building thought partnership relationships with senior executives and offering consultative solutions to enterprise clients.
- Clear understanding of and hands on experience creating and delivering “best in class” client service strategies and operating models
- Outstanding communication skills with both external and internal parties; capable of liaising effectively with global counterparts
- Native Mandarin, fluent (oral and written) English.
