Director, Data Operations

GLGs Core Engineering team builds the technology eco-system that enables effective and efficient operations for the company globally. Our team of engineers are laser focused on deploying technology solutions that instrument the business, modernize the systems stack, increase cybersecurity maturity, and enable enterprise productivity. 

 

Reporting to the Senior Vice President Enterprise Data, the Vice Director, Data Operations will be an evangelist and change agent to drive GLGs data operations modernization and digital transformation. They will lead a diverse team of engineering, librarians and analysts to curate 3rd Party data and increase the quality of data across the organization. This individual will partner closely with senior stakeholders to set a vision and collaborate with our Engineering team to pioneer and implement best-in-class tools, strategies & processes to foster a high-growth, scalable, data driven organization.   

 

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

 

  • Starting with your own picture of excellent based on your extensive experience transforming the corporate and business functions at a wide array of companies, you will collaborate to craft the vision of: 
  • What success looks like across these teams. 
  • What processes, systems, and roles are required to achieve that success. 
  • How the output of this ecosystem feeds the success of the rest of the business. 
  • Develop and deliver on a road map with milestones for the Data Operations stack that effectively drives leveraging data across the organization. 
  • Quantify, analyze, and communicate the impact of these innovations. 
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Technology, BUs, ensuring transparency and collaboration of ideas, challenges, and progress. 
  • Direct the efforts of internal and 3rd-party technology resources to develop, integrate, and support the Data Operations ecosystem. 
  • Keep current on industry trends, technological advances, and new product capabilities to continually inspire and evolve our ability to support GLG as we grow and innovate. 
  • Be the primary owner of 3rd Party Data for the entire organization, this includes budgeting and vendor management. In addition, evaluate and determine impact for future purchased data sets. 

 

An ideal candidate will have the following: 

 

  • 6-8 years of experience leading data teams including Data Engineering, Analytics and Operations. 
  • A bachelors degree is required, and a masters degree in a relevant field is preferred.  
  • Previous experience collaborating with VP and C-level executives. 
  • Track record of managing cross-functional teams, especially when you have to use inspiration, motivation, and collaboration instead of direct reporting lines to get things done. 
  • Clear vision of what excellent look like for a unified, scalable data operations function at an international services company, including specific expertise designing key processes such as Data Governance, Data Quality and actionable insight through data. 
  • Strong business and systems analysis, process design, and improvement expertise 
  • Deep knowledge of modern data platforms including Snowflake, Fivetran, Synaptica and other relevant data related systems 
  • Fluency in interpreting and designing data models that feed into downstream systems. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills utilizing both quantitative and qualitative sources to Executive stakeholders. 
  • Must be able to support recommendations with sound thinking and fact-based evidence (data, research, best practices, etc.). 
  • Proven record of meeting/exceeding established goals is required. 
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills are required. 
  • Must have strong organizational and project management skills, ability to work within tight time frames and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse teams spanning many levels of personnel.

Compensation: GLG is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. Certain roles may also be eligible for incentive compensation.

The anticipated hiring base salary range for this role is:
$122,700$180,000 USD
