Position Summary
The GLG Compliance team is looking to hire a Gurugram-based Director of Compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, client-centric professional to lead, coach, and support local compliance professionals, drive exceptional performance, take a primary role in assessing and implementing process improvements, and engage with colleagues in Compliance and Business Units around the world in support of a global business.
The Director’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to): overseeing Gurugram’s Compliance team, delivering excellent service (to internal and external stakeholders), maximizing GLG Compliance’s operating performance (with focus on improving internal team operations and efficiencies), and working to support strong client relationships. The successful candidate will report directly to the global Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and be responsible for collaborating closely with the CCO, Senior Director (Systems & Data), the Global Head of Capability Services in India, and other senior stakeholders throughout the organization in pursuit of maintaining and improving GLG’s industry-leading compliance framework.
Position Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Setting the strategy and driving the performance of the Gurugram Compliance team:
- Setting the plan for all aspects of operations, including but not limited to, hiring, training, coaching, change management, productivity and performance management
- Liaising with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the plan
- Establishing effective governance mechanism across levels to drive effective performance management and data reporting
- Overall oversight and management of team (50+) who, among other tasks, screen experts and clients, identify and resolve project issues, and surveil projects and behaviors of experts and servicing teams
- Providing ongoing coaching and development of management layers within the function through real-time feedback
- Problem-solving and piloting improvements in a data-driven and structured manner
- Making decisions, prioritizing, and acting with a sense of urgency on discrete issues and broader process changes
- Co-developing strategy and leading and coordinating Compliance - Operations efforts
- Developing the plan for Compliance – Operations, taking into account the needs of business BUs to inform or align with global efforts and priorities
- Anticipating and working through the interdependencies between various functions within the business (Client Solutions, Network Management, Member Success, Project Support, and other relevant areas) and proposing workflows and solutions
- Communicate with many audiences, including other members of the leadership team, clients, experts, and employees.
- Be an effective leader who can develop trusting relationships with their directs, stakeholders, and wider team members, keeping them encouraged and motivated to bring their best every day on every task
- Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline processes and use of resources and tools
Position Requirements:
- 13+ years of experience in data, risk or compliance (or a related field). Preference for candidates with prior experience focusing on customer or vendor risks in a corporate or financial services environment, with in-depth knowledge and understanding of obligations of confidentiality and risks related to MNPI across markets and At least 5 years in a senior personnel management role.
- Undergraduate degree Advanced degree (business, operations, data/systems) is preferred.
- Proven track record in managing and improving the performance of large business operations with a passion for coaching and driving team toward meeting and exceeding targets
- Willingness to ‘roll up sleeves’ and learn the intricacies of existing teams and workflows starting day one
- Self-starter with strong stakeholder management skills and ability to guide, influence and persuade stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization
- Act with the highest integrity and professionalism in all endeavors and lead others to do the same.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a heavy bias towards end-to-end implementation and strong results orientation.
