TARGET POPULATION

For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 50 senior executives working in the waste management sector in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. This is the third iteration in this tracker series.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents discussed the annual market size of private and municipal waste management and recycling over the past two years, as well as hard-to-fill roles.
  • The experts also shared which companies they consider best positioned to grow over the next five years and highlighted their core strengths in the context of the market environment.
  • Lastly, the research gathered insights on how the potential regulations and legislation will impact the industry, as well as how prepared businesses are to handle another pandemic or supply chain disruption.

Examples of findings:

  • 58% and 32% of respondents agree and strongly agree respectively that competitive pressure, in the private-treatment & processing sector, is expected to grow over the next three years.
  • Over six-in-ten (66%) consider innovation as the core strength of players to grow.
  • 63% of experts agree that extended producer responsibility will create new markets, attract new entrants, and increase recycling/recovery rates.

Deliverables

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Mat Crocker, former Deputy Director – Illegals and Waste at The Environment Agency.
