SURVEY DETAILS
TARGET POPULATION

For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 30 consultants working in the UK fibre industry.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents commented on the overview of the UK fibre industry in terms of growth expected, barriers to entry and growth, funding availability, customer uptake and impact of rising interest rates on the industry.
  • Further, the research gathered insights on the current dynamics between altnets and incumbents (such as BT Openreach and Virgin Media/nexFibre), their impact on the industry, as well as the consolidation outlook, including likely key consolidators.
  • Lastly, the survey looked into the competitive landscape in the UK fibre services market, including the top players, their differentiating factors and expectation for gain/loss of market share for each of these players.

Examples of findings:

  • Around half (53%) of experts anticipate significant consolidations in the industry in the next 4 to 5 years.
  • While opinions are somewhat mixed, over half (53%) of respondents do not believe that BT’s build behaviour could lead to its monopoly.
  • The share of altnets in the next 5 years is expected to be around 21% to 30% by close to six-in-ten (57%) respondents.
