TARGET POPULATION

For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 45 hotel brand franchise owners and non-franchise hotel owners in the US and Europe (UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain). This is the second iteration in this tracker series.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents provided their views on the disruptions affecting the lodging industry.
  • The survey explored hotel operators’ perceptions of the short and long-term implications for hotel owners, franchisors and lenders in the industry.
  • The research also looked into the possible relief that lenders and franchisors are providing to hotel owners during this time and staffing reductions undertaken by hotel owners to mitigate losses.

Examples of findings:

  • Around three-in-ten expect operating margins to increase by less than 5% during 2025 (29%), 2026 (33%) and 2027 (33%).
  • Leisure travel demand is expected to increase to 11% in both 2026 and 2027.
  • Close to three-in-four (73%) respondents did not receive a reimbursement for lost revenue through government support in 2024.

Deliverables

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Neil Amin, current CEO at Shamin Hotels.
