SURVEY DETAILS
TARGET POPULATION

For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 70 senior executives working within the aerospace industry (parts manufacturers) across the US and Europe (UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy).

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents shared insights into the aerospace and manacturing market landscape, including CNC machining specialization, demand fluctuations, and the impact of external factors such as COVID-19 and geopolitical tensions on the supply chain.
  • Furthermore, the survey examined key industry challenges, including rising material costs, regulatory influences on quality assurance, sustainability efforts, and the role of emerging technologies in shaping competitiveness.
  • Lastly, the research looked at the emerging industry trends, including the adoption of advanced materials, automation and additive manufacturing, as well as market leadership across different aerospace categories such as defence, commercial aviation, and business jets.

Examples of findings:

  • Close to three-quarters (74%) mentioned that global geopolitical tensions are impacting the supply chain.
  • Over one-quarter (27%) agree that additive manufactured parts offer greater design flexibility than traditional parts.
  • According to over six-in-ten (63%) experts, merger and acquisition activity in the unmanned aerial vehicle and drone manufacturing segment is expected to increase in the future.

Deliverables

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Steven Shaknaitis, former President – GE Honda Aero Engines at GE Aerospace.

  • 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
  • 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
  • Executive summary with key takeaways and highlights from the raw data.

Sample Questions

  • What are the certain limitations or challenges associated with the use of carbon fibre components in aerospace?
  • How is the lifecycle of additive manufactured parts compared to traditionally manufactured parts?
  • How do you think the following emerging technologies will transform the competitive landscape of the aerospace manufacturing industry in the next 5 to 10 years?
  • Which company do you believe will be the market leader in the following categories in the coming 10 years?
  • How is climate change impacting the industry currently?
  • Given the ongoing disruptions in the supply chain, particularly in critical materials like titanium and semiconductors, how can aerospace manufacturers enhance their supply chain resilience while maintaining their cost efficiency?
  • How has the demand for aerospace parts changed over the past three years compared to pre-COVID-19 level?
