Associate, Business Development (Financial Services)

Experience Level: Junior

GLG is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and tenacious Business Development Associate for its global Financial Services team. This is a client-facing position. You will focus on growing relationships with our existing clients, and supporting our senior account executives, on a book of accounts that may include investment banks, public equity funds, credit funds, and multi-strategy asset managers. You will also be responsible for identifying new opportunities within named accounts, regularly assisting with presenting GLG’s platform to clients, mapping client accounts, and driving adoption of various GLG services spanning expert consultation phone calls, market research/surveys, expert roundtables, and more.

Goals and expectations:

  • Understand GLG’s value proposition and solution offerings
  • Learn assigned accounts and collaborate with account executives and internal partners to pursue untapped opportunities
  • Understand client investment strategies to best position relevant GLG solutions
  • Conduct outreach to existing and new clients via phone or in-person
  • Confidently interact with clients of all seniority levels in meetings to uncover pain points
  • Log notes from client meetings and update CRM system accordingly
  • Prepare account plans and strategy around account goals
  • Actively update client coverage and understand the importance of client mapping for thoughtful client outreach
  • Prepare contract renewal analysis along with relationship review decks for each account renewal
  • Willingness to stay in this role for at least 2 years

Experience/Desired Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of sales, account management, or financial services experience
  • Proven track record of building relationships with clients
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Experience presenting to an audience over phone or in-person
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines without oversight
  • Experience performing data analysis and translating findings into account strategies
  • Desire to work in sales or account management as a career in the long run
  • Experience, or interest in, selling information services and/or selling to financial services firms
  • Bachelor’s degree from a leading college or university

Key performance metrics for the Business Development Associate include total outreach, connected outreach, establishing relationships with contacts at client firms, client revenue growth, increase in users of GLG’s services at client firms, and adoption of new products.

Compensation: GLG is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Actual compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. Certain roles may also be eligible for incentive compensation.

The anticipated hiring base salary range for this role is:
$56,400$70,000 USD
