Senior Director, Legal Counsel

Experience Level: Senior

The GLG team seeks a Legal Counsel (Senior Director) to join the Legal Department at the Gurugram, India office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced corporate attorney with a deep understanding of contract management.

This candidate will be self-motivated, demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in an organized, efficient, and proactive manner. The candidate must demonstrate confidence in advising senior management members and stakeholders along with showcasing impeccable trustworthiness.

This position requires high-level collaboration and team management skills, engaging both internal and external stakeholders. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Provide strong contracting, legal, and regulatory support to ensure the highest legal and compliance standards are met in all aspects of the business
  • Excellent understanding of local and international laws relevant to the company
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to write with precision and clarity
  • Draft and negotiate complex client/vendor contracts with multi-national entities for the Company and its global affiliates’ business partners, following a commercial and professional problem-solving approach
  • Manage diligence inquiries and other legal matters from clients, experts and their institutions, and vendors
  • Collaborate with legal departments across GLG and non-lawyer personnel to ensure timely execution of legal and compliance-related tasks for the Company
  • Provide general legal advice and support to multiple business segments, including Human resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Development and Client Services

Candidate Profile

 

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Law degree (LL.B. or higher) from a top law university, with demonstrated excellent academic performance
  • 12+ years’ of relevant experience as a self-sufficient transactional/commercial attorney
  • In-house legal experience with a multi-national company
  • Experience negotiating complex commercial contracts with multi-national companies
  • Strong commercial instincts and excellent business collaboration skills  
  • Experience training and/or leading other legal professionals
  • Must be fluent in MS office and comfortable with new technology. Prior experience with Salesforce platform and a CPQ/CLM system is helpful.
  • Exceptional written and oral English communication skills
