The Future of the U.S. / China Relationship

Is the current regime in China sustainable? Former U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman sits down with GLG to weigh in on this and much more. Drawing from his more than 35 year journey through national and global politics, Huntsman is an authority on foreign policy issues, especially with regard to the U.S.-China relationship. He contrasts what he calls the “long game” in China with the United States’ “peripatetic” tendencies in business and otherwise.

Jon Huntsman began his career in public service as a staff assistant to President Ronald Reagan. He has since served four U.S. Presidents as Ambassador to Singapore, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Asia, U.S. Trade Ambassador, and most recently U.S. Ambassador to China. Two-time Governor of Utah, Huntsman was also Chairman of the Western Governors Association, serving 19 states throughout the region. In mid-2011, Huntsman was a candidate for the Republican Party nomination for President. Huntsman currently serves as a distinguished fellow at the Brookings Institute, a trustee of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace as well as the Reagan Presidential Foundation, and chairman of The Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
