Philanthropies and Foundations

GLG partners with some of the world’s most important foundations and nonprofits.

Foundations turn to GLG for insights to support grantmaking and to evaluate mission-aligned investments. Nonprofit advisors work with us to inform landscape assessments, in-depth research, and client work. Through these partnerships, we help design and implement new philanthropic interventions and advance creative financing solutions for social change.

We’re proud to partner with organizations at the center of the global philanthropic ecosystem.

Providing Expertise to a Top Social Sector Advisory Firm

Since 2013, GLG Social Impact has worked closely with The Bridgespan Group (TBG), a leading advisor to nonprofits and NGOs, philanthropists, and investors. TBG consultants use GLG to engage experts across sectors and geographies through phone consultations, focus groups, and in-person and virtual events, gaining insights to inform their recommendations to TBG clients and other deliverables.

Example projects include:

Talking to utility providers, medical professionals, and environmental scientists about the impact of nuclear waste discharge from power plants.
Learning from oral health experts to identify high-impact opportunities to create systems change in oral health.
Speaking with futurists to survey major emerging threats to human safety, size the risk of these threats, and understand opportunities to address them.
Helping One of the World’s Most Prominent Foundations Change Lives

We’ve worked with several teams at a leading private foundation since 2015. Grantmaking teams have turned to GLG to deepen their knowledge in specific program areas and to explore interventions in new geographies and issue areas. In addition, the foundation’s program-related investments (PRI) team has worked with GLG to evaluate mission-aligned investments – from thesis development to diligence to post-investment support.

Example projects include:

Leveraging first-hand expertise during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa to uncover gaps in response and recovery efforts.
Talking to experts in battery storage to learn how to improve access to electricity in under-resourced settings.
Understanding the legal and regulatory landscape of impact investing in the Southern Hemisphere.
Researching antimicrobial resistance products and drug development timelines in the U.S.
