Healthcare Innovator Turns to GLG to Grow Relationships with Experts and Stakeholders Across Value Chain

New York, New York; September 28, 2015 — GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group Inc.), the world’s leading platform for professional learning, today convened an expert learning session for City Health works, which is led by GLG Social Impact Fellow Manmeet Kaur. City Health Works (CHW) trains and places health coaches in East Harlem to improve chronic disease management by bridging the gap between hospitals and communities. In this learning session, CHW will gather input and insight on best practices to scale their innovative model. The group includes doctors and other leaders representing hospitals, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, federal regulators, think tanks, and foundations.

“We are very excited to continue expanding our relationship with Manmeet and her great team at City Health Works, an organization dedicated to moving communities from healthcare to health,” said GLG Director of Social Impact Jennifer Field. “In this effort particularly, Manmeet exemplifies the curiosity and courage that we look for in GLG Social Impact Fellows.”

The GLG Social Impact Fellowship provides ambitious and resourceful nonprofit and social enterprise leaders access to peer-to-peer learning from GLG’s membership of more than 400,000 experts and thought leaders. The Fellowship makes the way the top private sector professionals learn available to the best and brightest in the social sector.

CHW applies innovative and proven community health practices from populous developing countries to chronic health conditions facing urban America – especially diabetes and obesity. The nonprofit launched in 2013 with funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Robin Hood Foundation, and Mount Sinai Hospital.

“I look forward to learning a great deal from this impressive group of big thinkers and major on-the-ground players in healthcare,” said Kaur, CHW’s Founder and Executive Director. “This is the kind of wisdom GLG is uniquely able to tap and demonstrates the value of GLG to the social sector. I am so grateful for the support and counsel we’ve found through GLG Social Impact.”

The 2014 Social Impact Fellows (listed here) were chosen from a diverse group of leading early-stage and emerging nonprofits and social enterprises. The competitive selection process was based on organizations’ missions and models and on applicants’ articulation of how GLG’s resources would help them increase efficacy and scale at key moments in their organizational growth. The 2014 Fellows and their organizations tackle a range of social challenges around the world – from community health and entrepreneurship to extreme poverty in Africa and disaster response in the U.S. (Watch a video of the 2014 Fellows here.)
