I was thrilled to co-host GLG\u2019s annual dinner celebrating our GLG Social Impact Fellows at the Milken Institute Global Conference, alongside GLG CEO Paul Todd. It was a great evening in Los Angeles, and we were proud to be joined by several of our Fellows, GLG clients and friends, and leaders from across industries who are attending Milken this week.<\/p>\n

Yesterday also marked the opening of our 2019 application period for the next class of GLG Social Impact Fellows (the application is available here<\/a>). Every year, we\u2019re impressed by the caliber of the applications we receive. In 2018, we welcomed an expanded class of nine Fellows from a particularly exceptional pool, and as this year\u2019s application process begins, we\u2019re eager to get to know a new group of changemakers, who will join GLG\u2019s global community of 45 current and alumni Fellows around the world.<\/p>\n

Several members of that community were represented last night. We were honored to celebrate the work of\u00a0Minhaj Chowdhury<\/strong>\u00a0(2016 GLG Fellow, whose organization,\u00a0Drinkwell<\/a>, expands access to clean water in India and Bangladesh),\u00a0Julie Cordua<\/strong>\u00a0(2018 Fellow and CEO of\u00a0Thorn<\/a>, which helps protect children from sexual abuse, and who just\u00a0won<\/a>\u00a0the prestigious Skoll Award),\u00a0Jukay Hsu<\/strong>\u00a0(2017 Fellow, whose organization,\u00a0Pursuit<\/a>, provides technology training to help lift underserved groups out of poverty), and\u00a0Oliver Libby<\/strong>, from our inaugural 2014 Fellow class, chair of\u00a0The Resolution Project<\/a>, which empowers young people to create social change.<\/p>\n

What makes Milken such an exciting environment, especially for someone who\u2019s spent much of her career working in social impact, is to see some of the business world embracing the idea that we need to drive shared prosperity. It\u2019s something we\u2019ve long believed at GLG; from our very first project 20 years ago, and in the millions of insights we\u2019ve shared since, we\u2019ve seen firsthand how making business smarter helps make the world work better \u2013 for our clients, our communities, and ultimately for all of us.<\/p>\n

We are extremely proud of all our Fellows and the crucial work they do to help tackle some of the world\u2019s most pressing challenges. And we\u2019re proud that our GLG clients, friends, and other leaders could join us at Milken to celebrate them.<\/p>\n
