SURVEY DETAILS
TARGET POPULATION

For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 70 senior executives working in logistics, marketing, sales and operations from different industries across the US and Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain). This is the third iteration in this tracker series.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents commented on the use of paper packaging in their organisations, in terms of typical costs associated with paper and coated paper packaging, as well as discussed the impact of European Commission Directive on the future outlook of paper packaging.
  • The survey also investigated the sustainability issues faced in packaging and its related costs, role of government intervention in sustainability and the recycling practices used by the organisations.
  • Lastly, the research looked at the competitive landscape, comparing brands on the basis of cost, brand image, delivery time, quality of service, and level of innovation.

Examples of findings:

  • Close to nine-in-ten (88%) experts declared to have used recycled paper to improve their packaging sustainability.
  • Around two-in-ten regard International Paper as the best company based on delivery time (23%) and brand image (23%), while Smurfit Westrock is regarded as the best company based on cost (21%), level of innovation (21%) and quality of service (21%).
  • Six-in-ten experts stated that customers are not willing to pay an upcharge for sustainable packaging. However, the same number reported that consumers have pressured them to switch to sustainable packaging.
