TARGET POPULATION

GLG surveyed 30 senior executives working in supermarket/grocery chains in France. This is the second iteration in this tracker series.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents commented on the staffing issues faced by the industry including the current level of difficulty, future outlook, expectation for change in salaries, as well as the supply chain issues faced by the industry.
  • Further, the research looked into the recent trends in the industry such as home delivery, click & collect service, use of digital loyalty cards, online vs in-store sales, as well as expectation for change in buying prices and costs.
  • Lastly, the survey looked into the current scenario and future outlook for consumer behavior in the industry, and how these are impacted by various factors.

Examples of findings:

  • Eight-in-ten (80%) respondents state they are either slightly or somewhat concerned about supply chain issues in the next 6 months, overall level of concern has reduced since the last year.
  • Close to nine-in-ten respondents state both home deliveries (88%) and click and collect services (90%) have increased by less than 20% over the last 6 months.
  • Fresh produce is the category most affected by availability issues with three-quarters (75%) of those responsible for it seeing major issues, one-in-ten (10%) are seeing severe issues.

Deliverables

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Ronan Martin, former Franchised partners relations Director – Hypermarket France Business Unit at Carrefour.
