For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 70 senior executives working across a broad range of industries who are currently using/converting bioplastics across the US and Europe. This is the sixth iteration in this tracker series.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents discussed the latest trends in the bioplastics market ‚Äì converters and end-users, current challenges and the importance of biodegradability for bioplastic products.
  • The survey also gathered insights about the future bioplastics demand and budget allocation.
  • Lastly, the experts shared their views on the interaction with various bioplastic producers such as Total-Corbion, NatureWorks, BASF, Biotec and Novamont.

Examples of findings:

  • NatureWorks (63%) and Novamont (63%) are considered bioplastics producers with good quality interaction according to converters, while Avantium is the preferred one by over three-quarters (76%) of end-users.
  • Converters’ average spend on bioplastic resin has dropped to $1.5 per pound for bio-degradable bioplastic and for bio-based bioplastics, it has increased to $1.6 per pound.
  • Six-in-ten end-users utilize both bio-based and bio-degradable inputs, this proportion has decreased since January 2024.
