TARGET POPULATION
GLG surveyed 40 current executives at European steel producers (UK, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany). This is the fourth iteration in this tracker series.
What will you learn from this survey?
- The survey provides an update on the steel industry, with wave-by-wave comparisons of the data from the previous waves, on various areas like costs, sales, profitability etc.
- Respondents also discussed the operational challenges that are currently being faced within the industry, including factors that limit production, idle capacities, inventory changes etc.
- Furthermore, the research covered topics such as current demand, pricing, contracting and regulatory trends.
Example of findings:
- Six-in-ten (60%) say steel companies will need limited assistance from government or international organization to manage low-carbon economy transition.
- Average fixed costs have remained stable, around 30% since 2020, meanwhile average variable costs have increased in recent years.
- Over eight-in-ten (83%) expect an increase in steel demand, while around half expect no changes in profitability (50%) and inventories/stocks of steel products (58%).
DELIVERABLES
The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, James King, Independent Consultant and Economic Advisor to industrial metals and raw materials industries.
The standard deliverable includes:
- 1 x Individual responses (“raw data”) in Excel.
- 1 x PPT report with aggregated data.
- Executive summary with key takeaways and highlights from the raw data.
