TARGET POPULATION

GLG surveyed 60 senior executives, store owners and category managers for pet food across the US, UK, Italy, France, Germany and Spain.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents commented on industry trends such as special proteins, level of sales and pet food regulations.
  • The research gathered experts’ views on the performance of private label versus A label brands.
  • Lastly, the survey captured the key selection criteria for private label suppliers and provided a competitive assessment of brands such as Purina, Pedigree, Whiskas, Felix, Perfect Fit and Royal Canin.

Example of findings:

  • On an average, A-brands account for half (50%) of the pet food sales.
  • Currently, in the dog food sector the main trend is increased sales of snack/treats (53%), although is not as strong as it was in March 2023.
  • Nearly half (47%) of respondents believe there is a trend towards single serve pouches and fresh meat and fish in the cat food range.

DELIVERABLES

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Jan Scheurwater, former Head of Sales at United Pet Food.

The standard deliverable includes:
