GLG interviewed 50 hotel brand franchisees and c-suite hotel chain executives across Europe and the US who discussed the latest trends in the space and COVID-19 impact. This is the sixth iteration in this tracker series.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • Respondents provided their views on the disruption facing the lodging industry as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The survey explored hotel operators’ perception on the short and long term implications for hotel owners, franchisors, and lenders in the industry.
  • The research also looked into the possible relief that lenders and franchisors are providing to hotel owners during this time, as well as staffing reductions undertaken by hotel owners to mitigate losses.

Examples of findings:

  • In August 2022, 56% of the respondents stated that their business has already returned to pre COVID-19 levels on a monthly basis.
  • Overall, 14% of our experts mentioned that their hotels had PPP1 loans that were fully forgiven.
  • 88% of participants stated they expect the occupancy rate in 2022 to be above 60%, compared to 54% recorded back in February 2022.

DELIVERABLES

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Neil Amin, current CEO at Shamin Hotels.

The standard deliverable includes:
