TARGET POPULATION

GLG interviewed 50 current executives working across a range of industries in Europe on the impact of the EU Green Deal.

What will you learn from this survey?

  • The survey assessed the impact on companies due to the European Green Deal strategy, revisiting the topic from the first iteration in September 2020.
  • Respondents provided insight on sustainability and green initiatives in companies operating in Europe.​
  • Our experts discussed their current interests on climate related issues such as environmental protection, de-carbonisation and protection of biodiversity.

Examples of findings:

  • When asked to assess how prepared their company is to comply with “due diligence” and accurate reporting requirements from an environmental/ climate perspective, 16% of the experts stated they are extremely prepared in September 2021, up by only 2% from the numbers recorded a year ago.
  • In September 2021, 82% of the respondents stated their company’s products or services are likely to focus on environmental/ climate related advantages and opportunities in order to convince consumers to buy, a jump from 70% recorded back in September 2020.
  • 14% of the experts mentioned that it is extremely likely that their investment and organisational decisions will be affected by COVID-19, down by 18% from the numbers recorded 12 months ago.

DELIVERABLES

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Council Member, Andrea Mogni, former senior financial expert on EU affairs at the European Commission.

  • What is your position on an EU energy tax, fuel tax, aviation tax, digital tax and etc to protect the environment and reduce CO2 emissions?

The survey discussed topics such as the impact EVs will have on Oil and Gas as an industry, in addition to questions around the current state of the EV industry in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • Questionnaire was drafted by Anders Rudlang, CTO at Electric Freeway.
  • GLG Tracker: Drilling Equipment II – New! 
    • GLG interviewed 65 senior executives who discussed their drilling activity and contractual impact in the last 12 months, impact of COVID-19 and their projections for the short and medium term. The initial wave of this survey was conducted in March 2021.
    • Questionnaire was drafted by Roger Hodgson, former Commercial and Marketing Director at Weatherford Drilling International.
  • Petrochemical
    • 60 C-level executives working in the petrochemical industry discussed the COVID-19 impact on the sector and provided insights into its performance in the first half of 2021. The research also investigated the current demand issues and prediction for the rest of the year.
    • Questionnaire was drafted by Paul Hodges, Chairman at International eChem. Data released in July 2021.
  • Testing, Inspection and Certification – New!
    • 70 senior executives working at Testing, Inspection and Certification companies within the US and Europe commented on the future of the industry and projected growth as well as the impact of COVID-19 and the disruption in terms of postponements and cancellations.
    • Questionnaire was drafted by Emmanuel-Jean Petit, former CEO at Apave International.
