TARGET POPULATION
For this Network Survey, GLG surveyed 50 senior executives within the care home industry within Europe (UK, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany). This is the third wave in this tracker series.
What will you learn from this survey?
- The survey investigated the current trends and outlook of the care home industry throughout Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and the UK).
- Furthermore, this research covered the impact of inflation and regulation on the industry moving forward.
- Lastly, respondents discussed their views on staffing, including the proportion of overseas staff, and overall satisfaction.
Examples of findings:
- Nearly half believe future fee rates will be in line with inflation, while this percentage has sightly decreased since May 2023, the proportion believing it will be below inflation has increased to three-in-ten.
- Over one-in-four declared that the hourly rate for most junior carers is at 5% above minimum wage, while over one-third reported an hourly rate similar to minimum wage.
- Nearly two-in-five reported an average rent cover for leasehold home to be less than 1x, while over one-third state it is 1.0x to 1.5x.

The GLG Surveys team drafted the questionnaire with the support of GLG Network Member, Olivier Derycke, former CEO Korian.

- Looking at the industry average, what percentage of staff are recruited from overseas?
