The Future of Drilling Based on Insight from The Permian Basin

The Permian Basin has historically been on the leading edge of a drilling downturn. Gary T. Holley sits down with GLG to share insight from the Permian and what it says about the state of drilling rigs.

Gary T. Holley is President and CEO of Canyon Drilling Company, a privately held Oklahoma-based Land Drilling Contractor providing drilling services to the Oil & Gas Industry throughout the Continental USA. Mr. Holley has been in the industry for over 40 years. Prior to joining Canyon in July 2009, Mr. Holley was President of NOMAC Drilling Company, a Chesapeake Energy Company involved in conventional and unconventional drilling supports Chesapeake operations in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Chesapeake’s Eastern Division. He originally joined NOMAC in October 2008 as Senior Vice President of Drilling Operations. Previously, Mr. Holley was operations manager at Patterson UTI Drilling Company, a firm providing drilling services in the oil and gas industry where he reported directly to the President and COO (2004-2008). From 1998-2004, Mr. Holley held the position of Mid-Continent District Management at Nabors Drilling US (NDUSA). Through a series of consolidation / purchases, Mr. Holley also held executive positions with Cougar Drilling and Quarles Drilling which were purchased, merged, and ultimately dissolved by UTI.
