Report: Illuminating Invisible Inequities in Healthcare

Lesedauer: 1 Minuten

Racial disparities in U.S. healthcare garnered more intense scrutiny as COVID-19 impacted minority groups at disproportionately high rates. Growing evidence suggests that implicit bias is among the main factors driving these inequities. Despite an urgent need for systemic change, existing research on implicit bias is mostly academic, and finding clear, actionable guidance on what to do is challenging.

GLG Social Impact’s first Insights with Impact report, Illuminating Invisible Inequities in Healthcare, provides a roadmap for organizations seeking to diagnose, measure, and combat the effects of implicit racial bias on health outcomes.

The report was prepared by a panel of GLG experts with decades of experience in public health and racial equity, in partnership with GLG’s Social Impact Initiative. The resulting report includes steps for leaders to collect data, design training programs, and hold themselves and their organizations accountable for change.

“If systems are given a roadmap of where to start and what to do, this important work will be normalized…and we will actually start to make some progress towards meaningful change,” said panelist Juliette Blount.
