(Sr.) Software Engineer - Full Stack

Experience Level: Mid

Position Overview

Software Engineers at GLG build the platform that matches companies around the world with the people who can help them make the right call on their most important decisions on demand.  Working on one of our self-organizing teams you’ll pair with other engineers, product managers, and users to set and achieve goals that help GLG continue to define the future of work.

We are a rapidly growing team with a lot of programmers and relatively few managers -- a trend we’re hoping to keep as we continue to expand the team. We value results and flexibility over process and dogma.

Location: Hong Kong/ Shanghai/ Shenzhen/ Beijing

Key Responsibilities

  • The Research Talent or Engineer should develop a deep learning information retrieval/recommendation platform for Chinese language text
  • Conduct research towards applying existing text understanding technologies in clustering and matching
  • Aim to make any theoretical breakthrough to enhance the performance/precision of the existing models
  • Work alongside software engineers to develop applications using modern technologies and tools, including React, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Serverless computing, SQL, PyTorch, Tensorflow, NLP etc.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to create a technical vision for future products

The Ideal Candidate

Technical skills

  • At least six (6) years of experience as a software engineer building scientific applications or service-based systems.
  • Demonstrated HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills.
  • Expert level React and Node development skills.
  • At least two (2) years of current Python development
  • Experience writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Experience working with data sets, looking for patterns, normalizing data, storing data, etc
  • Understanding of AWS products and cloud-native architectures preferred
  • Understanding of container orchestration (Docker, ECS) preferred
  • The ability to thrive and in a self-directed environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or engineering is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to educate other team members on modern technologies and coding patterns. 
  • A desire to participate in all aspects of the development lifecycle from inception to implementation and support.
  • Concrete mentorship skills.
  • The ability to measure your result in business results rather than lines of code.
