Job Summary

GLG is seeking a Shanghai/Beijing-based Senior Associate or Manager to join its Finance, Data & Strategy team in Greater China. The team helps accelerate top and bottom-line growth and drive strategic initiatives alongside Business Development and Client Solutions Leaders across Greater China. The Senior Associate or Manager will be a solid individual contributor and team member reporting directly to the Vice President of the Strategy, Data & Finance team who is based in the Shanghai office.

This position is an amalgamation of finance data analytics, dashboard development, and program management of strategic initiatives, operating as a project coordinator, driving growth acceleration strategies across the Greater China business.  The role involves significant exposure to and interaction with key business stakeholders and requires the candidate to demonstrate exceptional business acumen, maturity, and relationship-building capabilities.  We are seeking an inquisitive motivated self-starter with excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and communications skills.  The ideal candidate will be able to balance multiple projects, and demonstrate an entrepreneurial, can-do, get-things-done attitude.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Business performance dashboarding and reporting
    • Develop key business performance metrics tied to specific strategic initiatives and measure success against targets set
    • Build and maintain automated data monitoring tools and dashboards to enable senior management to make better operational and commercial decisions
    • Assist with other ad-hoc analysis to optimize capacity planning and budgeting for different BUs
    • Produce and distribute regular reports and presentations to track business performance
  • Strategic initiatives program management
    • Develop deep understanding of GLG’s business model, particularly all operational and technology-based workflow and processes with a direct impact to clients and experts
    • Launch investigative deep dives into various programs to build business cases, identify risks and issues, make recommendations to solve roadblocks, and execute toward strategic goals
    • Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and project governance
    • Closely manage and coordinate multiple stakeholders within APAC and corporate functions such as Finance, Business Intelligence and Technology globally to manage regional and global strategic initiatives

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree or higher from a top tier university
  • Meaningful work experience (2-5 years), ideally in finance management consulting or other highly analytical or project management role
  • Naturally inquisitive, consistently proactive and tenacious, and able to work in an organized and independent matter with strong sense of responsibility
  • Analytic agility and creativity, with strong technical skills and ability to develop and deliver key insights and recommendations
  • Devotion to accuracy, integrity and consistency of data and models.
  • Advanced database skills – SQL and Salesforce reporting skills are essential to success in this job
  • Experience with Tableau, Looker, or business intelligence tools
  • Advanced modeling and Excel skills – ability to build efficient, scalable, and intuitive models
  • Good Powerpoint skills with commitment to create thoughtful communications and visually attractive presentations
  • Good experience with python and the latest data science technology including pandas, pycharm
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and senior management across Greater China/APAC
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability and initiative to handle increasing responsibility over time
