GLG is seeking a Data Librarian who will be primarily responsible for building and maintaining a series of taxonomies and associated metadata. Changes to the taxonomy require interfacing with users to understanding their needs and analyzing data to understand usage patterns. This role will sit under the Data Operations team which is responsible for a broad set of structured data.

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Building and maintaining a series of taxonomies including crosswalks and associated metadata.
  • Working closely with stakeholders in the business and engineering to understand their needs. Designing and implementing changes to the taxonomies to satisfy stakeholder requirements.
  • Analyzing relevant data as it pertains to usage of the taxonomies. Translating usage patterns into data solutions.
  • Developing processes around various data cleaning and creation exercises. Creating training and monitors progress on data cleaning tasks completed by offshore resources.

An ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Experience defining, building, and maintaining taxonomies or ontologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master's preferred) in Library Science (MLS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program. 
  • Familiarity with SKOS, OWL or other best-in-class knowledge organization standards.
  • Ability to work effectively within teams and independently.
  • Flexibility and willingness to expand or shift the range of responsibilities to meet evolving needs.
  • Experience with data analytics leveraging structured data, especially when using SQL, GraphQL, SPAQL, or Python is a plus.
